Choose Your Path

How to Choose a Path When Starting Your Coding Journey

Of course this is much easier said than done. I’ve had many problems committing to one and then changing my mind. Here is some of the advice I have been given and learned along the way. Follow my journey on this blog and see how well I stick to a plan.

Starting to learn to code can be both exciting and overwhelming, with so many programming languages and paths to choose from. To make the process smoother, consider the following factors when selecting your learning path:

  1. Why did you choose coding?
  2. Why do you think you will be good at coding?
  3. Career Goals: Understand what you want to achieve with your coding skills and choose a language that aligns with your goals. For example, if you want to build websites, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript may be a good starting point.
  4. Market Demand: Knowing which programming languages are in high demand can give you an edge in the job market. Currently, Python and JavaScript are in high demand and widely used.
  5. Community Support: Having access to a strong community of developers can provide you with resources, support, and inspiration as you learn to code. Python and JavaScript have large and active communities, but some languages may not have as much support.
  6. Ease of Learning: Some programming languages are more beginner-friendly than others. For example, Python is often considered easier to learn compared to languages like C++ or Assembly.
  7. Personal Preference: Your personal enjoyment and comfort with a language should play a significant role in your decision-making process. Don’t hesitate to try different languages to find the one that’s right for you.

In summary, when choosing a path for your coding journey, consider your career goals, market demand, community support, ease of learning, and personal preference. Take your time, do your research, and enjoy the journey!
