Last Year’s Learning

2022 was a year of learning for me. I first decided I wanted to be a data scientist. I then learned that would probably need an advanced degree and a data analyst may only need a certification and portfolio. So I went with option two and worked through Coursera to get the google analytics professional certification.

You can find that certification at https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/google-data-analytics

I did not feel confident enough to apply for jobs so I completed the IBM data analyst certification also through Coursera. https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/ibm-data-analyst

Then in August an opportunity presented itself in the form of commonwealth coders. A free online bootcamp focused on front end web development funded by the state of Kentucky. I learned a lot through the program but during that time the job market dove of a cliff. So here I am I’ve had no luck applying to web development jobs but I have been scammed twice. Luckily I figured it out before I gave any information. So now I might be going back to the original plan of data analyst. I need to create a data analyst portfolio and start applying to data jobs as well as web development jobs. I also need to keep up with learning web development skills. I’ve also decided to follow some advice I got and start a coding blog. I’m going to share what I am learning and tips I’ve gotten for my job search. I hope this doesn’t take too long but y’all should follow along for the ride.
